What does it mean to be “Educated”?

What does it mean to be “Educated”?

Does it happen when you hit a certain age? When you finally earn that coveted diploma?

“Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.” – G.K. Chesterton

For the first 200ish years before compulsory school our country enjoyed 98% literacy. With only a few books and the natural world – the farmer, the tradesman and the statesman were educated and informed. Most believed learning was personal and life long. In 1900 most students who did go to school only attended for 3-5 months out of the year and most only until 8th grade. However those 8th graders were reading Plato and Homer, many works now not touched until graduate school in college. Schooling is not the same as an education. GK Chesterton would say school has lost it’s soul.

We have been conditioned to believe that only 2 choices exist:

1) Formal schooling conducted by “Experts”

2) Being doomed to poverty

In reality, the choices and paths are endless and only limited by your creativity. THE MASTER LIST offers epic possibilities. Any of them will result in an explosion of experience, advancing your education and your career. Pick one or two and see where they take you. This community exists to equip and validate those who are brave enough to choose their own path.

Thanks to the internet, education is FREE and available to all – you just have to take back control.

I am building the RESOURCES page to have everything you could ever need to educate yourself. If you have a juicy resource to add, shoot me an email at hello@edsplosion.com – when it is listed, I will include a shout out.
